DxOMark recently released its display analysis of the iPhone 16 Pro, and the results might disappoint some Apple enthusiasts. Like the standard iPhone 16, the Pro model didn’t meet high expectations, falling behind Samsung’s Galaxy S24 and Google’s Pixel 9 Pro series—and even behind last year’s iPhone 15 Pro.
With a score of 150, the iPhone 16 Pro sits at 17th place in DxOMark’s global rankings, trailing the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which leads with 158 points. The Galaxy S24 Ultra scored 155 points, while the iPhone 15 Pro achieved a score of 151.
However, the iPhone 16 Pro’s display still holds its own as a flagship screen, offering vibrant and accurate colors in both indoor and outdoor settings. This ensures an enjoyable visual experience, according to DxOMark.

DxOMark did have some notable criticisms, including low luminance and contrast ratios in specific conditions, which reduced readability. Brightness levels in HDR10 and SDR videos were also found to be inconsistent, impacting the overall viewing experience.
One change in the iPhone 16 Pro’s design was a reduction in bezel thickness, which unfortunately led to frequent accidental touches—a drawback DxOMark mentioned as impacting user experience.
Despite these issues, DxOMark described the iPhone 16 Pro’s display as “impressive” overall, showing it still competes well in the flagship segment. However, with models like the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Galaxy S24 Ultra pulling ahead in display quality, Apple fans might feel that this year’s display improvements fell short of expectations.
